Roughly 28 miles long, the Knik Glacier is about 35 miles northeast of Anchorage and 7 miles southeast of Palmer. Enjoy the comfort of our covered and heated river boats as you experience an informative, fun filled voyage that takes you to the face of this magnificent glacier which is nearly 6 miles wide, and in places over 1000 feet thick. You will travel up the Knik River while taking in the breathtaking beauty. Look for mountain goats, Dall sheep, black bear, eagles, moose, beavers and many other smaller varieties of wildlife. Migratory water fowl also visit the valley as a major fly-away. Sandhill cranes, Canadian geese, snow geese and families of trumpeter swans return each year.
At the Glacier your guide will educate you on the local flora and fauna. Enjoy a light snack while viewing the ever changing glacial decent of this massive glacier formed over 600,000 years ago.
